1.B - Fugitive Emissions from fuels (OVERVIEW)
Short Description
image Zollverein.jpg size="medium"During all stages of fuel production and use, from extraction of fossil fuels to their final use, fuel components can escape or be released as fugitive emissions.
While NMVOC, TSP and SO,,x,, are the most important emissions within the source category solid fuels, fugitive emissions of oil and natural gas include substantial amounts of NMVOC and SO,,x,,.
1.B - “Fugitive emission from fuels” consist of following sub-categories:
NFR-Code | Name of category |
---|---|
1.B.1 | Solid Fuels |
1.B.2.a | Oil |
1.B.2.b | Gas |
Trends in emissions
Following chart provides emission trends for main pollutants in NFR 1.B. (click to enlarge): <image Overview_EM_1B.JPG size="medium" viewer="yes"
Please refer to sub-categories for more details!.
Proportional share of fugitive emissions concerning emissions of the energy sector and national total amounts
pollutant | fugitive amount in year 2018 | share within the energy sector | share within the national inventory |
---|---|---|---|
NOₓ | 1,77 kt | 0,14% | 0,18% |
NMVOC | 43,38 kt | 4,17% | 20,65% |
SOₓ | 5,98 kt | 1,54% | 2,72% |
PM₂.₅ | 0,93 kt | 0,89% | 1,61% |
PM₁₀ | 4,60 kt | 2,08% | 5,94% |
TSP | 14,00 kt | 4,10% | 13,90% |

Recalculations
Recalculations covering the past two years have been carried out as a result of the provisional nature of a number of statistics in this area.
For pollutant-specific information on recalculated emission estimates reported for Base Year and 2015, please see the pollutant specific recalculation tables following chapter 8.1 - Recalculations].
